Bothell Landing Beauties

October 2009 found my own family in a crazy rush of packing and paperwork as we prepared for the purchase of our first home. I wasn't looking for new sessions during this crazy time, but when I was approached to do a Fall session for the H. family, I could not turn down the opportunity. What a treat it was. The air was crisp, leaves just turning and the children... Beautiful!

See for yourself:

What a lively pair they were. Running, jumping, playing... they gave my camera and I quite a work-out.

We did manage some family shots in-between activity:

But it seems the majority of my shots were of little ones on the move.

What a fun day with a lovely family. You can see more from this session here. Thanks J, A, C and L.

Let's Go Fly a Kite- 4-09

One blustery morning in April, I had the pleasure of making memories with a lovely family who would soon be moving out of country and wanted to preserve memories of themselves in Seattle. Gasworks park seemed the perfect location to incorporate the Seattle skyline, green grass and water... the essence of our city.

This was my first session with strangers, but I was delighted to find them warm and engaging.. and very photogenic. Before the session, I suggested they bring kites, as Gasworks has the perfect hill for kite flying. Adorable sisters, fun parents and colorful kites on a gray day made for an irresistible combination. Here are a few of my favorites from this session:

It is very difficult for me to pick just a handful to highlight here. I had so many "keepers" from this session. To see the rest, go here

Thanks J, C, J and L for letting me help preserve memories of your time in Seattle. Best wishes in your new home!

River Walk- Family Session

In April I spent a lovely morning at Bothell Landing park with the E. Family. Little Miss S. and her big brother, J., were delights. The playground and river were the perfect setting to capture the love of this beautiful family.

Thanks, E. Family for a beautiful morning!

A Walk in the Park

I recently spent one of the first warm, sunny Sundays of Spring with a good friend and her beautiful family. What a perfect combination for a photo session.

Sweet Baby J (and Big Bro)- March 09

I was fortunate enough to spend a Sunday morning photographing sweet Baby J, just 2 weeks old, and his adorable Big Bro. This was my first session with an infant, and I learned so much. As with most newborns, Baby's mood swings were challenging, but also made for some memorable photo ops- is it wrong that I love the wrinkle/crinkle face that accompanies a newborn's cry?

Here are some of my favorites from the session:

You can see the rest of the set here.

Thank you so much, Baby J's family, for letting me share these moments with you. You have such beautiful boys!

First Photo Session- Beach and Brothers

Ok, let's get this blog rolling!

I'll start off with my first photo session, which took place in October 2008. It was for a wonderful family who I've known for 6 years. I used to nanny for their adorable twin boys. Yes, B and G, I used to change your diapers!

It was a lot of fun and a great way to kick off my photography biz. Here are some favorites from the session:

Thanks, J, M, B and G, for the fun morning and letting me try out my camera on you :-)

Debut!

Hello,

I'm Brooke, aspiring photographer and mommy to Reshen (REESHen), who will be 3 in late November.

I shoot with a Nikon D80 and would love to make more photography connections and I always welcome constructive criticism- that's how I learn!

You can view my "professional" page at www.brookesidephoto.com, or check out my full personal collection at www.flicker.com/mesa_raine.

But as this is a photo blog, I'll start it off with some recent photos I took of my boy while he was waiting for his strawberry plants to turn red (oh, the innocence of a 2-year-old):

Thanks for looking and I look forward to getting to know you!
